About Career Training Path

A directory built for one decision: which hands-on training program is worth your time and money.

Career Training Path lists every accredited trade, vocational and career-training campus in the United States, 3,741 of them, and puts the federal numbers next to each one: how many students finish, what graduates owe, and what they earn one, two and ten years out, by program. Those figures come from the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard and IPEDS surveys and the federal accreditation database (DAPIP). We do not estimate, adjust or rank by opinion; where the government suppresses a figure for privacy, we say "not reported".

Who it is for

People choosing a trade for the first time, and adults changing careers into one. The second group is growing fast as office work is automated, and it is the audience most existing school-finder sites serve worst. So Career Training Path leads with outcomes and time-to-earn, not with the school's brochure.

How we make money

Today, we don't. The site is free and carries no sponsored listings. When we do introduce sponsorship or school inquiry forms, sponsored placements will be labeled, and no school's outcome data will change because it pays us. We also publish a free weekly newsletter, The Toolbelt.

Who publishes it

Career Training Path is published by Own the Answer Inc., an independent publisher of data-driven reference sites, based in Sarasota, Florida. Data refresh

College Scorecard and IPEDS release annually; DAPIP monthly.
